Roaring Billy Falls, Mt Aspiring National Park 7886, West Coast Region, New Zealand
A 30-meter waterfall, Roaring Billy Falls is located in Mt Aspiring National Park, along HAAST Highway. It is a typical cascades waterfall, which drops into the crystal clear Haast River. Most spectacular after rain.
Roaring Billy Falls is roughly a 1.5 hours’ drive away from Wanaka. The road surface is always sealed.
From Wanaka travel north on the SH-6 for 115. A huge car park is on your right and has a sign “Roaring Billy Falls.” There are no facilities there.
An easy 40-minutes return Roaring Billy Falls Walk starts from the parking, goes through the bush and leads to the waterfalls’ lookout. Return via the same track. The track doesn’t have any stairs and suitable for wheelchairs.
The waterfall is located on the opposite side of the river, but you don’t require to cross the river because the falls are fully seen from the viewing point.
