Heavy Anti-aircraft Artillery Battery, Matiu/Somes Island, Lower Hutt 5012, New Zealand

The five concrete structures on the hilltop east of Mt Pleasant represent a command post and four gun positions. They are the remains of a World War II (1939-1945) Heavy Anti-aircraft Artillery (HAA) battery. The structures are much as they were when they were de-commissioned by the army after the war.
