Just a short drive from the Wellington CBD, Scorching bay is a popular sandy roadside bathing beach with a large grassed area and carpark.

The sheltered area provides an excellent swimming spot, surrounded by native plants, pohutukawa trees and residential buildings.

There’s a playground rope-climbing structure and a popular cafe nearby. A path across the road by the turnaround area climbs up into the regenerating bush.
