Tiritiri Matangi is an easy day trip by scheduled ferry service from Auckland.  In order to make it an enjoyable experience and so as not to unduly disturb the wildlife, the number of people on the ferry is strictly limited.  In summer the ferry gets booked days in advance so it pays to book early. As well as wonderful wildlife Tiritiri Matangi has a lighthouse, a Visitor Centre some great walks and views and beaches.
